Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed in his Friday press conference that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will be back in-between the sticks tomorrow.

Chelsea host rivals Manchester City on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel has announced that Mendy will be in the starting XI after missing the last couple of fixtures with a rib injury.

The £22million goalkeeper sat out last weekend’s league win against Tottenham, as well as the midweek Carabao Cup victory against Aston Villa.

Blues understudy goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga did a great job stepping in, but the usual number one is returning to the starting line-up tomorrow.

Edouard Mendy comeback a massive boost

For Kepa, he can be delighted with the last week.

The 26-year-old put in two strong performances when given the chance and the manager knows that he can rely on him throughout the course of the season.

However, it’s a no-brainer that Mendy starts this weekend.

It’s still so early into the new league season, but there is the feeling of a huge game against Man City.

If the Blues are to get three points tomorrow, you’d suspect they will need their brilliant goalkeeper on his A-game.

Mendy’s record of 29 clean sheets in 50 Chelsea appearances is staggering and he breathes confidence into the back-three ahead of him.
