Tuchel confirms these five Chelsea players haven't trained ahead of Plymouth, including three injured stars
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the five players who haven’t trained with the group ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle.
The Blues welcome League One club Plymouth to Stamford Bridge in Saturday afternoon’s match in the FA Cup fourth-round.
Tuchel has shared in his press conference (Football London) that a quintet of his players haven’t been in training this week. However, he’s had the entire squad available working with him apart from them.
English players Ben Chilwell, Reece James and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are the three individual all missing due to respective injuries. Full-backs Chilwell and James are long-term absences, while central midfielder Loftus-Cheek missed the game against Tottenham before the winter break.
Elsewhere, Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic are the other two other Chelsea players not in training. The duo have both been away on international duty playing with Brazil and United states respectively.
Chelsea squad is formidable
Yes, there are some high-profile players missing at the weekend. There is still an abundance of talent that Tuchel can select from, though.
The Chelsea Chronicle has predicted the starting line-up that Tuchel will select tomorrow.
It’s vital that the depth is in the squad to help cope with a hectic fixture schedule, so overall just three injuries isn’t the worst record.
Unfortunately, the absence of wing-back pairing Chilwell and James has been really noticeable.
