Chelsea fans rave about Ethan Ampadu's first start for Wales
Ethan Ampadu’s rapid rise to stardom has been quite breathtaking.
The son of former professional footballer Kwame Ampadu, Ethan made his senior debut for Exeter City aged just 15 years, 10 months and 26 days.
Ampadu signed for Chelsea on the 1st July 2017 and having just turned 17, made his first team debut coming on for Cesc Fabregas in an EFL Cup match.
And he made his Premier League debut just three months after that.
During the summer, despite loan interest from Football League clubs, Maurizio Sarri blocked any possible move, insisting Ampadu had a place in his first team squad.
New Wales manager Ryan Giggs has clearly also seen Ampadu’s potential, starting the youngster in Giggs’ first competitive match as manager against Ireland.
Not only was it Ampadu’s first start, but it was also Wales’ first game in the new Nations League.
And although Ampadu plays at centre-back, he is also comfortable in midfield, which is where Giggs played him.
Despite being only 17-years-old, Ampadu showed a calmness on the ball and defensive nous that belies his years.
He even provided an assist for Aaron Ramsey on his competitive debut for Wales as they went on to win 4-1
So, following Ampadu’s Rolls-Royce of a performance, let’s see what Chelsea fans have had to say about it:
Everyone was full of praise for Ethan Ampadu last-night, which is always nice to see.
Many forget he's still only 17-years old.

Unpopular opinion: Ethan Ampadu is a bigger prospect than CHO

Ethan Ampadu with another masterclass for Wales. Don't think that man can produce less than 7/10 in any game he plays.
Should be starting over Luiz at Chelsea.
However if Mbappe was a Chelsea player, Morata would start over him and he would be on loan at Vitesse

Ethan Ampadu doesn’t care how young he is! Wins the ball back & picks up an assist to Ramsey.
You watching, Sarri? 😉

We have the following potential world class stars at Chelsea:
17-years old: Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi
19-years old: Mason Mount.
I hope Chelsea do not let these players end up like Josh McEachran and waste their potential.
Believe in the club. #CFC

Seen a snippet of Wales v Ireland and looked as though Ethan Ampadu absolutely bossed the game. Need to see the highlights but to do that at 17 on the international stage is unreal. Hope he gets game time at Chelsea. We need young British talent in the EPL

Even the Daily Mirror couldn’t help but see Ampadu’s bright future:
