Alan Shearer has claimed that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel could have a tough decision to make at the end of the season when it comes to Blues-owned star Conor Gallagher.
The 21-year-old has been on a season-long loan with Premier League rivals West Brom, becoming an important player at the Hawthorns.
He is an all-action central midfielder that is tenacious and offers so much energy off the ball, while in possession he does have great technique to contribute quality going forward.
If you look at all the players out on loan from Stamford Bridge this campaign, Gallagher has got to be in the category for one of the biggest successes.
The England Under-21 internatonal has come all the way through the academy ranks at Chelsea, but is still waiting to make his first-team debut for the Blues.
Shearer has admitted he’s a fan of Gallagher. However, he feels senior Chelsea boss Tuchel is going to have to weigh up whether he’s ready to be promoted to the first-team squad next season.
Pundit Shearer has spotted the problem that the manager will have over the youngster’s future.
“An exciting midfield prospect, Gallagher is West Brom’s leading ball winner and has a decent cross on him,” he said, as quoted by the Premier League’s official Youtube account.
“The lad’s got quality and confidence going forward… I think the young man is having a positive season at West Brom, but if he can do that week in week out for Chelsea is another matter. It will certainly give Thomas Tuchel a headache over the summer.”

On paper, Gallagher looks like he’s the overall package that would suit Tuchel.
His problem though is that he understandably still needs to improve a little with his decision making, something which will come with more experience.
Additionally, trying to break into a midfield position right now with the Blues is tough. Senior players N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic are rotating between the two spots, which means extremely talented youngster Billy Gilmour is spending a lot of time watching on the sidelines.
If Tuchel can’t see Gallagher getting much game time next season after watching him in pre-season, another loan move makes sense.
