Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour was in action last night during pre-season for Norwich City – and some of their fans on Twitter were left raving about the youngster’s performance.
Gilmour, 20, decided to leave Chelsea on loan for this upcoming 2021/22 season to seek regular first-team football at Carrow Road.
The Scotland international has joined a Norwich City team that play eye-catching attacking football. Also, they are back in the Premier League and recent history suggests they’ll stick to their offensive principles.
He’s a midfield playmaker that’s looked the part whenever he’s featured in the Chelsea senior team, but a loan looks like the best way to fast-track his development.
Chelsea currently have some proven top-class talents in the centre of the park, but surely further down the line Gilmour can have a future at Stamford Bridge.

A selection of Norwich fans on social media were left waxing lyrical about Gilmour after his Tuesday night performance in pre-season.
The deep-lying creator started during a convincing 5-0 victory against League One opposition Gillingham. It looks like he’s slotting into the role that Oliver Skipp played last season at Carrow Road during a loan from Tottenham.
Gilmour may not be the biggest in stature, but he’s a real presence in the middle with the way he’s vocal and takes good care of the ball.
It’s going to be great to see how the Chelsea-owned star gets on in the new season.
