Has Andreas Christensen done enough to start against Manchester City?

With David Luiz’s defensive abilities – or lack of them – regularly exposed in the Premier League, many Chelsea fans have been calling for Andreas Christensen to get an opportunity.

Maurizio Sarri’s ideal pairing in defence is Antonio Rudiger and Luiz, but Chelsea have looked soft as a result.

And after coming through Chelsea’s academy, Christensen is a favourite amongst Chelsea fans.

That season under Conte looked to be Christensen’s coming out party, but he has struggled under Sarri.

Christensen’s only featured in cup competitions so far, although he got his first Premier League start against Wolves last Saturday.

But although seeing him play was what Chelsea fans wanted, Christensen did not play very well.

He couldn’t quite stop Raul Jimenez from opening the scoring despite nearly catching up with the Mexican.

Christensen has not played regular football recently, so it’s understandable he looked rusty against an attacking Wolves side.

But against an impressive looking Manchester City side, Sarri could go back to Luiz.

Luiz is not Chelsea’s long-term centre-back, but Sarri will probably prefer him over a rusty-looking Christensen.

Chelsea fans may want Christensen to start on Saturday, but they may have to wait until next week before he gets a run in the team.
