Predicted Chelsea 4-3-3 line-up to play Everton: Werner as right winger
After heavy rotation in midweek, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will likely revert to the set of players he used against Leeds United with the exception of the injured Hakim Ziyech.
Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s injuries will likely mean one of Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner could be forced to play outside their comfort zone on the left.
Werner still got an assist when operating on the right flank against Leeds, but it also prevented him from being able to cut inside onto his stronger right foot.
In midfield, Lampard will have a big decision to make.
N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount seem to be obvious choices given how important their work rates have been.
Both Kante and Mount were also rested in Tuesday’s win over Krasnodar, although the former still made a second-half cameo.
The question is: who is going to be the third midfielder?
Mateo Kovacic got the nod in midweek, while Kai Havertz was deployed as a right winger.
Regardless of Lampard’s decision, there will be enough games in the coming weeks for each of them to feature.
At the back, Lampard seems to already have his favoured personnel.
This consistency might have been key to Chelsea’s significant defensive improvement.
Predicted Chelsea line-up v Everton (4-3-3):
Mendy
James – Zouma –Silva – Chilwell
Havertz – Kante – Mount
Werner – Giroud – Pulisic
