Predicted line-up against Liverpool: Rudiger to return from injury?

Chelsea and Liverpool once again do battle at Stamford Bridge on Saturday at 5.30pm.

After Maurizio Sarri’s side won the dress rehearsal 2-1 in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, Liverpool will be out for revenge.

Liverpool are the only remaining side to win all their games after Chelsea drew at West Ham on Sunday.

And Jurgen Klopp’s side are being tipped to challenge Manchester City for the title this season, so the Blues will have a difficult task on Saturday afternoon.

Stars to return?

Wednesday’s game provided an opportunity for squad players to get a chance to impress Sarri.

This meant that many of Chelsea’s key players were given a chance to rest and recuperate.

But Saturday’s game will see Olivier Giroud, Jorginho, David Luiz and Marcos Alonso return to the starting XI.

And after resting during the midweek, they’ll be looking to start quickly against Liverpool.

Injury doubts?

Because of the busy schedule, there are two major injury doubts for Sarri to consider.

After limping off against PAOK in the Europa League, Pedro took part in Thursday’s training and is close to returning.

If deemed not ready to play, Willian will take the Spaniards place

Also, Antonio Rudiger went off against West Ham on Sunday and Sarri there is a possibility he will be able to recover from that knock.

They are both two vital cogs for Sarri as Chelsea lacked Pedro’s link-up play against West Ham.

And Rudiger – as one of the quickest defenders in the league – could prove vital against Liverpool’s formidable front-line.
