Chelsea are coming off a 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League, a result which many fans aren’t sure how to compute.
On one hand, Chelsea played very well and had some excellent performers – notably David Luiz and Mateo Kovacic.
On the other hand, they were undone by a stunner from Daniel Sturridge and they drew with a title rival.
But the players have no time to mull on the result, as the Europa League returns with Hungarian side Mol Vidi travelling to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea started their European campaign with a 1-0 win at PAOK whilst Mol Vidi lost 2-0 at home to BATE Borisov.
The Hungarians – formally Videoton – are third in the top flight in Hungary, and will be looking to cause an upset.
Injured players to return?
Both Pedro, Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been out of action with injuries.
Pedro limped off against PAOK whilst Loftus-Cheek picked up a knock after the September international break.
Christensen was forced off at half-time with an illness in Chelsea’s EFL Cup game with Liverpool last week.
But all three could start today after Maurizio Sarri confirmed they’re all back in training.
It will be a welcome return to action for Loftus-Cheek as Chelsea fans have high hopes for the England player.
Stars to get a much needed rest?
Chelsea’s schedule up until Christmas looks extremely hectic, meaning Sarri will have to rest players when necessary.
And this is only heightened with the World Cup in the summer meaning some players had a truncated pre-season.
With a game against a theoretically much weaker Mol Vidi coming up, Sarri may decide to rotate.
Eden Hazard, Marcos Alonso, David Luiz and Jorginho may all have a rest.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, Emerson, Andreas Christensen and Cesc Fabregas could replace them.
