Predicted line-up against Southampton: Pedro to return to starting XI?
With another international break just around the corner, Maurizio Sarri will be looking to go into it with a win.
Chelsea edged past Mol Vidi on Thursday in the Europa League thanks to a timely Alvaro Morata goal.
And the Blues face a trip to the south coast and the St. Mary’s Stadium to face Southampton on Sunday.
Mark Hughes’ side are coming off their own mid-week win, after beating Everton in a low-key EFL Cup match.
The Saints sit 16th in the table at the moment and will be hoping to kick-start their season against Chelsea on Sunday.
Pedro to return?
Due to a shoulder injury picked up in Chelsea’s win over PAOK, Pedro has missed the past couple of games.
But the World Cup winner returned to the Chelsea starting line-up on Thursday, playing 54 minutes.
Pedro had the hot-hand in the early portion of the season as he scored three goals in the opening five games.
Because of Willian’s attacking struggles, Sarri may be tempted to start the Spaniard against a leaky Southampton defence.
Other stars to return?
Sarri saw it appropriate to rest a number of key players against Mol Vidi with a busy schedule on the horizon.
He made eight changes to the side that drew with Liverpool, with Kepa, Mateo Kovacic and Willian remaining.
Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso all played no part in Thursdays win.
Despite some of the fringe players playing well – especially Emerson Palmieri – they will be forced to make way.
The return of the Premier League brings about wholesale changes as the big-hitters return for Sarri.
However, the performance of Morata on Thursday may keep Olivier Giroud on the bench for Sunday.
