Jose Mourinho said he is not worried about Frank Lampard’s team selection ahead of Sunday’s derby as he believes Chelsea have “only very good players”.
The Blues will have a couple of days of extra rest compared to Spurs, who played in the Europa League on Thursday.
However, unlike Chelsea, who had to field some of their key players to secure a 2-1 win against Rennes on Tuesday, Spurs managed to rest theirs, including their in-form stars Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, in their 4-0 win over Ludogorets.
Chelsea will also have an important game against Sevilla on Wednesday, just three days after facing Spurs at Stamford Bridge.
Interestingly, Mourinho did not pay much attention to Chelsea’s potential line-up for the weekend.
“Probably not, I don’t know,” he told reporters when asked whether he knows the formation and the team Chelsea are going to deploy against his team at the weekend (via HaytersTV).
“But with such an amazing squad, you know…
“To play [Reece] James or [Cesar] Azpilicueta. To play [Ben] Chilwell, [Marcos] Alonso, or Emerson.
“To play [Edouard] Mendy or the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the Premier League — Chelsea have an amazing squad.
“So I’m not even worried about who is going to play because they only have very good players.”
Asked about his feeling about returning to Stamford Bridge, facing his old club and former player Lampard, Mourinho said: “It’s another game for me.
“No problem at all.”
