After Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park, the Chelsea Chronicle rates the players.
Having nothing to save affects how highly he rates. He did, however, make several fantastic long passes that Jorginho would have been proud of.
Cesar Azpilicueta: 7
He is a terrific defender as he showed today but dreadful going forward. His teammates practically beg him to get forward quicker.
Antonio Rudiger: 6
In a bit of a rut by his high standards as he is losing out in tackles and aerial challenges more often. It could be down to the fatigue of so many games.
David Luiz: 8
One of his best games of the season as he continues his impressive run of form. Fantastic vision and execution of the pass for the goal. Stout in defence otherwise.
Marcos Alonso: 6
He appeared to be frustrated with Hazard for not passing to him. Hazard clearly does not think he is up to much going forward. Defensively, he was actually quite solid.
Excellent defensively and he kept the game ticking over on the ball. Any stick he gets is totally unjust.
N’Golo Kante: 8
An excellent performance as he tries so hard to adapt to his new role. Everywhere defensively and more confident when dribbling forward. His run for the goal was great and that sort of run can be a deadly weapon moving forward.
Ross Barkley: 5
Hit the post with a decent effort but he contributed nothing apart from that. No ambition to try anything risky and barely ventured into the attacking third.
Contributed in attack by hitting the post, drawing two good saves and putting one on a plate for Rudiger. He still messes up simple passes or opportunities maddeningly often.
Eden Hazard: 6
A quiet game but he is probably exhausted from carrying the attack all season.
Olivier Giroud: 6
Fed off scraps for the most part though part of that is his fault for being extraordinarily slow. Took his chances expertly although they were both ruled out.
