As Chelsea scored a memorable, fantastic victory over probably the best team in the world, let’s look at how the players rated.

Kepa: 7

Did not actually have that much to do but he did make one fantastic save right at the end.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 8

Defensively, he was absolutely fantastic. The only reason he is not rated a 10 is because his use of the ball was not particularly good.

Antonio Rudiger: 7

Very sound as always. He did not put a foot wrong defensively. Probably Chelsea’s best of the season so far.

David Luiz: 9

Man of the match. Without his long pass for the first goal and his header for the second, the Blues don’t win. Defensively he was perfect.

Marcos Alonso: 5

Defensively he was decent though he was completely roasted for speed a few times. His use of the ball was dreadful as he gave the ball away pretty much every time he got it.

Jorginho: 8

Excellent pressing was his main plus point tonight. His ability to keep possession under City’s intense pressure was crucial.

N’Golo Kante: 7

Was unable to hold the ball a few times. But he scored a terrific goal and he burst forward with the ball and pressed high very well.

Mateo Kovacic: 7

Made some excellent defensive interventions and he kept the ball well under pressure. More than justified his selection today.

Pedro: 7

Inconsistent with his choices in possession but he pressed high really aggressively which made a big difference. He is not as talented as a player like Hazard but he squeezes out every drop of ability he has through sheer effort.

Willian: 6

He plays better in the false 9 system as we saw against Barcelona last season. He is also better from the left hand side where he can cut in and shoot.

Eden Hazard: 7

Held the ball up with his back to goal very well and ran in behind willingly. He did not get as much of the ball facing the goal as he would like.
