How the players rated against Fulham

After Chelsea came through 2-0 against Fulham at Stamford Bridge, we look at how the players rated.

Kepa: 8

The Spanish keeper continues to prove his class as he passed out incredibly accurately from the back and made several good saves.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 7

The captain improved today although his crossing is still poor. He defended well and was OK in possession.

Antonio Rudiger: 7

Kept things simple with his passing and dealt well with the physical challenge presented by Mitrovic.

David Luiz: 6

His long passes were very inaccurate today but he did defend well when called upon.

Marcos Alonso: 3

A shocker. Awful crossing to absolutely nobody. Whenever he overlapped he did not hold width but headed into the penalty area to get on the end of chances when he should be delivering them. Perhaps Sarri’s decision to substitute him is significant.

Jorginho: 6

A little quiet although his passes into the forwards are so important. When he is man marked, other midfielders must step up.

N’Golo Kante: 6

He showed his strengths and his drawbacks today. He regained possession high up the pitch before playing simple passes to keep things moving. This is his job and he can do it excellently. However, at other times, he is guilty of not having the technical ability or vision to play crucial passes in the final third.

Mateo Kovacic: 5

An underpar performance that may well see him lose his spot to Ruben Loftus-Cheek who showed him how it is done in an attacking sense.
Kovacic dribbled to dead ends and did not do enough to help his forwards.

Pedro: 8

He is inconsistent. One moment he will mess up under no pressure, the next he is finishing like Messi. That right wing spot must be his though. He is a constant goal threat from anywhere and he is also the only person who consistently presses the opposition in the forward positions.

Eden Hazard: 7

He was quiet before Loftus-Cheek came on. The Englishman’s introduction seemed to inspire him as he set up Loftus Cheek’s goal and had a great last half an hour.

Olivier Giroud: 7

Played nice lay offs to his runners, a great strength of his. He is not exactly the predatory striker Chelsea need but he is the best option.
