Player Grades from Southampton 0-3 Chelsea
Chelsea strolled to victory at St Mary’s against Southampton. Here are the grades for every Blues player.
Goalkeeper:
Kepa Arrizabalaga: 8 – Continues to grow into the role. His handling was impeccable and he made two brilliant saves from long range.
Defence:
Cesar Azpilicueta: 5 – His crossing was poor again. Bertrand gave him a torrid time in defence.
Antonio Rudiger: 8 – One brilliant block to deny what looked a certain goal. Certainly, he is of the players of the season so far.
David Luiz: 7 – Was much improved against Liverpool and continued his increasingly good form here. Again, he brought the ball out of defence very effectively.

Marcos Alonso: 6 – Similar to Azpilicueta, his crossing needs to improve. However, defensively, he was good again.
Midfield:
Jorginho: 8 – He continues to act as the heart beat. Even the more adventurous through balls were perfect.
N’Golo Kante: 7 – He broke up play very well as he usually does. He is slowly becoming more comfortable with his more advanced role.
Ross Barkley: 8 – His best game for Chelsea. This was a much needed performance full of confidence after a few poor matches.

Forwards:
Willian: 5 – His complete lack of a left foot means he is ineffective on the right wing as he cannot cut inside and shoot like Pedro.
Eden Hazard: 9 – Made the team tick again. Everything good about the attacking play went through him. Therefore, he is the king of this week’s grades.

Olivier Giroud: 7 – Some deft touches to set Hazard away. Grabbed an assist for the second goal as he continues to be useful.
