Cesar Azpilicueta said Chelsea are going to fight to be the No.1 team in London ahead of Sunday’s derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
Rivalry between two London teams, Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard’s history, two in-form teams who could potentially challenge for the title: there are a lot of reasons why Stamford Bridge is going to be a fascinating battleground at the weekend.
At the moment, Tottenham, who sit at the top of the Premier League table, have a two-point lead over third-placed Chelsea.
The Blues could overturn the situation with a win, which is what they are certainly aiming for.
Chelsea captain Azpilicueta has even spiced things up as he claimed the home side will strive to be the best team in London.
“Since I arrived at Chelsea, I always tried to have the winning mentality of every game to finish at the top for the top trophies,” he told The Telegraph.
“That includes being the top team in London and we want to be at the top because that means we are the No.1s.
“That’s what we fight for.
“We are in good form and, hopefully, we can improve on last season and now reach higher levels.”
Azpilicueta also said that any game against Tottenham is a big derby everybody wants to be part of.
“It’s an important game for everybody and, hopefully, we will be at our best because we will need to be,” he added.
