Chelsea are reportedly in talks right now over signing Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez this summer.

It has been claimed that the Blues have submitted an official bid to sign the Spaniard, with them awaiting the response of the Seagulls.

Chelsea are now seemingly under the impression that Sanchez would be the perfect goalkeeper to provide competition to countryman Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Spaniard broke back into the first team picture last season, after spending plenty of time on the bench in recent campaigns.

He displaced Edouard Mendy from the starting side, however continued to flatter to deceive some in the fanbase.

Even though Graham Potter was a big fan of Kepa, reports that they were looking for a new goalkeeper existed while he was in charge.

Potter praised Sanchez

One of those linked with the move was Sanchez, and he has since lost his spot in the Brighton side under Roberto de Zerbi.

Potter has previously been full of praise for the 25-year-old who could now be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

He said: “Amazing since he came in. He helps the team, comes for crosses that are just incredible, relieves the pressure, (has) calmness with the ball.”

It looks as if the recommendation is coming off the back of Chelsea’s goalkeeping coach, who came over as part of Potter’s original management team when he was hired last year.

While some supporters will have been disappointed a move for Andre Onana didn’t come to fruition, competition between the sticks is only likely to improve both players in the role, with a number of young options still to come through in the coming years.
