Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may have a plan in place to try target Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic on Saturday when Chelsea travel to Anfield.

The Blues visit Merseyside this weekend and both teams will be hoping to maintain their 100 per cent winning start to the new Premier League season.

Chelsea have beaten Crystal Palace and Arsenal. Meanwhile, Liverpool have got the better of Norwich City and Burnley.

Pundit Carragher says that Liverpool manager Klopp could highlight the Chelsea midfield, so suggests he could set up his team to get after them.

He believes Liverpool could approach the game differently to Arsenal, who were outclassed by the Blues midfield pairing of Jorginho and Kovacic on Sunday.

“Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp might do it a different way [to Arsenal] on Saturday. That will be really intriguing. He might step up the game, step onto Kovacic and Jorginho,” Carragher said.

Thomas Tuchel v Jurgen Klopp a fascinating battle

First of all, there is no guarantee that there will be a Jorginho-Kovacic midfield pivot against Liverpool. They’ve started the opening two league matches together, but N’Golo Kante is returning to fitness.

It won’t be a surprise if Klopp does push his team high up the pitch against any Chelsea XI, especially as the game is being played at Anfield in front of a crowd.

Fortunately, Jorginho is the kind of player that is an expert in beating the press. Meanwhile, Kovacic or Kante can each offer a different dynamic in the midfield.

The Romelu Lukaku v Virgil van Dijk match up is already being spoken about in the media, but the Tuchel v Klopp battle deserves similar attention.

Klopp has done an outstanding job during his tenure at Liverpool. However, Tuchel’s Chelsea are now threatening to mix it with the division’s very best.
