New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has decisions to make with Nicolas Jackson and Emmanuel Emegha this summer.

Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, while Emegha was still at Strasbourg, with the 23-year-old not officially a Chelsea player until the transfer window opens.

However, they are both set to report for pre-season at Chelsea, where Alonso will get to have a closer look at the two strikers.

He will possibly have to make a decision on who stays at Stamford Bridge and who goes, as the Blues have a lot of forwards on their books right now.

Jackson’s return has complicated things, with the club not previously expecting to have both the Senegal international and Emegha.

According to The Athletic, a big factor behind Chelsea signing Emegha from their sister club was Jackson’s situation.

It was thought that Jackson would never play for Chelsea again after his loan move to Bayern. But following Enzo Maresca’s exit, it looks as though the 24-year-old could put on the blue shirt once more.

Jackson is now willing to stay at Chelsea, but only if he is guaranteed game time. That may be difficult to offer, as Joao Pedro has established himself as the team’s first-choice No.9 after scoring 20 goals last season.

Chelsea fans can expect movement in the striker department this summer, as Pedro, Jackson, Emegha, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu are way too many forward options. There are also reports claiming that they could bring in another No.9 when the transfer window opens.

It is believed that Chelsea have an interest in Darwin Nunez despite his struggles at Liverpool.

Nunez scored just 40 times in 143 appearances for Liverpool before leaving the club for Al-Hilal last year. If he arrives, it is not impossible that Emegha is loaned out while Jackson is sold.
