Paul Merson has claimed Chelsea would love to re-sign their former superstar Eden Hazard if he was made available.

Belgian attacker Hazard, who has gone down in Blues folklore as a club legend, won six major pieces of silverware during his time in west London.

He ended up leaving Stamford Bridge back in 2019 after a dazzling seven-year Chelsea spell, as he joined Real Madrid.

Unfortunately, the winger’s time with the Spanish giants has been plagued by injuries, and he’s yet to show in La Liga what he’s capable of as a player.

Aged 30, some are unsure on whether he can ever get back to his best.

He’s currently earning a mega £407,000-a-week (Salary Sport) at the Bernabeu, with his current deal not due to expire until 2024.

Merson, who is a Chelsea-supporting pundit, has claimed that the Blues would bite your hand off if given the opportunity to bring him back to the Premier League.

“Eden Hazard could miss out on a reunion with Chelsea even if he’s fit – but they would take him back like a shot,” Merson wrote for the Daily Star

“If Hazard ever gets back to the form he was in at Chelsea, he can cause havoc. But I just don’t see it.

“Sometimes you need to start well when you make a big move and he didn’t, and it’s all gone downhill for him.

“But Chelsea would take him back. No doubt. Before he left, he was on a different planet.

“You wish Chelsea had a clause where they could take him back because you would do that all day long to see him back in the Premier League.”

The stars have aligned to mean Chelsea are facing Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.

It’s unclear on if Hazard will be fit to play, as he suffers from a latest muscle problem, but it would be quite a sight to see him on the pitch against Chelsea.

Surely Hazard isn’t going to walk away from a staggering deal at Madrid, but it would be an absolute dream for Chelsea fans to see him back.
