Rennes midfielder Yann Gboho said he is really proud to play against Chelsea and was particularly impressed by Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante.
The visitors eventually came out with a 2-1 victory thanks to Olivier Giroud’s dramatic winner in the last few minutes of the game, but Rennes made them work for it.
Gboho only had a second-half cameo in that game, but he made the line-up for the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking about his experience being a starter against Chelsea, the 19-year-old told Ouest France: “It’s a childhood dream. In previous years, I watched them on my sofa, but then I was on the field.
“My parents looked at me, it was a lot of joy, a lot of pride.”
Asked if any Chelsea player impessed him, he responded: “Thiago Silva, for his calmness.
“N’Golo Kante because he swept up a lot of balls.”
The Blues have qualified for the knockout stages with the win against Rennes and will fight for the top spot against Sevilla.
Rennes, on the other hand, will hope to win against Krasnodar and secure a spot in the Europa League.
