Report: Antonio Conte really wants to sign a player just like Chelsea's £50m man for Tottenham

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte would reportedly love to sign a player this summer just like Chelsea’s Jorginho.

According to the Evening Standard, the Spurs boss may want to bring a new face in for the centre of the park.

The report states he would like a midfielder in the mould of Chelsea’s deep-lying playmaker Jorginho.

Conte and Jorginho never overlapped at Stamford Bridge. In fact, the £50million midfielder signed for Chelsea the day after the club sacked Conte in 2018.

The Italian coach is now working across London with rivals Spurs, who are still in the top-four race this season in the Premier League.

He’s been a winner most places he’s been in his managerial career, so rivals may be a bit worried to see what he can do moving forward after a summer transfer window.

Jorginho future

Conte wants a Jorginho-type player next season, but how about the man himself?

It’s been reported that the 30-year-old’s immediate future is to stay at Stamford Bridge as part of the Chelsea group, albeit his current Blues deal is due to expire in 2023.

He’s a real senior leader in the team’s dressing room, with Kai Havertz recently calling him one of the best players he’s ever played with.

Jorginho’s not always the most loved player by supporters due to the fact he’s not quickest or most physical, but he’s one of the smartest footballers in the squad.

He can dominate matches for Chelsea from a deeper central midfield role when he’s on form.

After all, he’s a player that finished third in the Ballon d’Or rankings last year after a stellar 2021 for club and country.
