Report: Thomas Tuchel could let 'spectacular' Chelsea player leave, if he gets the three signings he wants this summer
Reports suggest Chelsea will be willing to let Cesar Azpilicueta leave the club this summer.
According to The Telegraph, the move could come to fruition if Thomas Tuchel is able to add three new defenders to his ranks.
The club captain has been rumoured to be wishing to leave the club after a decade long spell in West London.
Barcelona have been the club most heavily linked with a move for Azpilicueta, with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly recently spotted in the city meeting chiefs from the club.
His era has been littered with success, winning every trophy available to him domestically, continentally, and on the world stage.
The 32-year-old’s professionalism has been praised by teammates, with fellow leader Thiago Silva describing him as ‘spectacular’.
Azpilicueta could be allowed to leave
Now though, The Telegraph have reported he may be granted his wish, should the Blues secure the defensive names they are targeting.
The club are expected to announce the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly imminently, having agreed a fee with Napoli and personal terms with the player.
It appears the club’s business in terms of centre-backs is far from finished, with rumours suggesting the club are close to agreeing a deal with Nathan Ake.
The Manchester City man would be returning to the club he left in 2017, with him winning one of his four Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte.
With Ake’s confidence in playing on the left of defence, Tuchel may see the Netherlands international as the perfect replacement for Antonio Rudiger, who excelled on that side of a back three last season.
Despite links of big-money moves, the club should absolutely look to ease Levi Colwill into the setup this season, in order to stop him leaving the club. His departure would see the club make the same mistake they have made with Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi in recent seasons, with the pair flourishing last season.
