Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui admitted that Chelsea deserved to win on Wednesday, as he believes the Group E leaders have the quality to win the whole competition.
Things just didn’t work out for the La Liga side that night.
Lopetegui had to play Sevilla B goalkeeper Alfonso Pastor after Thomas Vaclik suffered an injury during the warm-up. While his first-choice goalkeeper Bono had been ruled out even before the game after testing positive for Covid-19.
Although he didn’t deny Chelsea were the better team, he still believes the 4-0 score-line did not really reflect the whole game.

“They deserved the victory,” he told reporters after the game (via Sevilla’s official website).
“The result is excessive, but I think we started badly.
“We had the chance to equalise, but we did not do it and with the second goal they really punished us.
“They are a team designed to win the Champions League and when the game opened and they were able to run, they did a lot of damage.”

With the win, Chelsea have secured the top spot in Group E with 13 points.
They will play the last group match against Krasnodar at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, 8 December.
