Sparta Rotterdam's Deroy Duarte says he dreams of playing for Chelsea

Sparta Rotterdam midfielder Deroy Duarte has opened up about being a Chelsea fan and his dream of playing for the west London outfit.

It seems that there are more and more young footballers who see Chelsea as their dream club these days.

Last year, Nantes striker Moses Simon said he “loves Chelsea because of John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba” (Goal) — and now Duarte.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder clearly never made a secret about Chelsea’s being his favourite club.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Speaking to Dutch outlet AD, Duarte said he often “walks around in a Chelsea tracksuit”.

He admitted that a move to Stamford Bridge would be too early now, but in his dreams, he often “sees himself sitting in a dressing room alongside Kai Havertz and N’Golo Kante”.

“But everyone can be ambitious, right?,” he added.

“There is some interest [he didn’t mention the club], but my focus is now only on Sparta.”

“I have to score more, deliver assists more often. Then we’ll see what happens in the summer.”

Duarte’s four goals and three assists in Eredivisie so far this season are clearly not a bad record for a young midfielder.

Unfortunately for him, the attacking midfield department arguably has the most competition at Chelsea at the moment.

But perhaps he might be able to attract Chelsea’s interest in the future — who knows?
