Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo praised Frank Lampard and the quality of Chelsea’s squad as the two sides prepare to face each other on Tuesday.
Just like Chelsea, Wolves are hoping to bounce back after a disappointing defeat at the weekend.
With a couple of key players – Joao Moutinho (suspension) and potentially Raul Jimenez (head injury) – missing, Wolves are far from their ideal condition to face Chelsea.
The visitors also have a couple of injury problems, with Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi out for a couple of weeks.
However, as Nuno pointed out, Chelsea have plenty of talent in their squad to make up for the pair’s absence.
“A very good team, a talented squad, many, many good players, some that they already had and some that they bought, and Frank is doing a very good job,” Nuno told Wolves’ official website about Chelsea.
“It’s a very tough match tomorrow.”
The Blues completed a league double over Wolves last season, including the 5-2 win at Molineux in September last year.
But Nuno insisted that it is going to be a different game, and his team prepare to face a different Chelsea side.
“It was a tough game for us [last season],” he explained.
“I think we didn’t play well and I recall that Chelsea played a good game, created a lot of problems for us and it was a heavy result.
“But the reference is not about last season, it’s about what Chelsea is now, how they performed last week and the previous games.
“This is what we analyse carefully because it’s about the momentum that the teams are on.”
