‘He's been exceptional’: Luke Shaw is really impressed by midfielder Chelsea reportedly want to sign
England’s Luke Shaw has told TalkSport that Jude Bellingham is getting the praise he deserves at the World Cup.
The highly-talented teenager is linked with a move to every big club around next summer, with Chelsea one of those throwing their name in the hat.
Bellingham has been enjoying a stunning campaign at the World Cup this winter, being arguably the best player England have had at the tournament.
This has been reflected in Gareth Southgate keeping the faith in starting in him every game, despite rotating other roles.
Shaw has claimed that the praise he is receiving is fair, with them relying on him to keep his standards high to help them against France.
Shaw praises Bellingham
He said: “He’s been his normal self. The good thing about him is he’s obviously very young but he’s got a good head. He thinks right. He’s got good people around him. In this camp, he’s been very close with Hendo.
“We all know what Hendo’s like so I’m sure he’s keeping him in a straight line only and focusing on football and not thinking about other things. He deserves every bit of praise he’s getting. He’s a fantastic player.
“I said before the tournament he was going to be an important player for us – not just for now but for the future. He’s been exceptional and he needs to keep those standards high, and keep pushing himself and hopefully deliver another brilliant performance against France.”
Todd Boehly has reportedly been working hard behind the scenes to get Chelsea in contention to sign the Borussia Dortmund man when he surely makes the move next summer.
With Liverpool and Real Madrid perceived to be in the strongest positions to sign the midfield talent, Blues fans may be encouraged by reports that the American is prepared to bid whatever it takes to sign Bellingham.
