Kalidou Koulibaly has named fellow defender Reece James as the fastest player at Chelsea as he answered a few questions about his Blues teammates.
It has been almost a year since the former Napoli captain joined Chelsea, so it is safe to say that he should know his teammates pretty well.
There are plenty of players to get to know considering Chelsea’s squad size, but his pick on the team’s fastest is quite interesting.
Mykhailo Mudryk is well-known for his pace, so it is quite a surprise that Koulibaly did not name him the fastest.

“The fastest player in the Chelsea squad for me is Reece James,” the Senegal international told GOAL.
“The strongest I’d say Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
“The smartest player at Chelsea is Mateo Kovacic.”
“The best dressed is Trevoh Chalobah. His clothes [look like what someone would wear for] shooting.
“The worst-dressed is someone who came before me, [Marc] Cucurella.
“We have to improve everything, from the top to the [bottom]. Everything. He cannot dress.
“I don’t know how his wife is with him, maybe she’s the one that has to choose the clothes for him now. [Because] choosing on his own, he’s making a mess!”
In fairness, we do not have the information on when this interview was held, so Koulibaly might answer it before Mudryk joined the club in January.
Regardless, James is, no doubt, quick.
The right-back recorded 33.9 kmph in the Champions League this season, not far behind Mudryk’s 36.6 kmph.
Another fast player at Chelsea is Wesley Fofana. The French defender’s top speed in the Champions League this season is 34.9 kmph.
