Marcos Alonso admits he would be scared of £29m Chelsea player if he was an opposition player

Marcos Alonso has jokingly admitted he would be scared of Chelsea teammate Antonio Rudiger if he was an opposition player.

Alonso, 31, is one of the wing-backs in the Blues squad that manager Thomas Tuchel likes to use.

The real success of Tuchel’s side has been built on the defence, especially when it comes to the centre-back positions.

Chelsea’s dominant centre-half options include the likes of Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah and Andreas Christensen.

Alonso jokes 28-year-old defender Rudiger would be someone that frightens him if he ever came up against him.

“Thank God I have him in my team. If I played for another team, it would be a good call,” Alonso replied when quizzed on if he’s scared of Rudiger.

Chelsea fans nervously wait on Rudiger outcome

Alonso’s hit the nail on the head because Chelsea’s powerhouse defender Rudiger definitely puts the fear into opponents.

The £29million German has entered the top-class bracket because of his high level of performances for over 12 months now.

He’s aggressive, strong and quick when it comes to his defensive work. It’s obvious how much he loves the craft of defending, too.

Of course, the one issue involving him is that his contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of this season, so Chelsea could end up with a seismic hole to try fill.

A latest report claims the Blues have offered Rudiger a new contract offer worth £170,000-a-week.
