Reece James has shared his disappointment on social media following Chelsea’s exit from the Champions League last night.

Real Madrid proved their European credentials by humbling Chelsea 4-0 on aggregate across the two-legged quarter-finals, winning yesterday’s game 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

It means the Blues are left with just seven Premier League games left to play during this very challenging season.

Chelsea wing-back Reece James, 23, has uploaded a message on Instagram this afternoon reflecting on his team’s defeat on Tuesday night.

He wrote on his official Instagram account: “Last night was tough to take, but we need to be better and we will be. The Bridge was rocking… thank you. I see you and appreciate you all.”

Interestingly, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior has popped up in the comment section to show his appreciation for his rival with a couple of emojis.

It’s pretty evident there’s a lot of mutual respect between the duo.

Vinicius, who’s one of the world’s best attackers right now, proved to be a major handful for Chelsea across the quarter-final contest.

In particular, the 22-year-old left-winger really hurt Chelsea defenders James and Wesley Fofana in the first leg last week.

We hope to see many more James vs Vinicius battles in the years ahead!

James has pretty much summarised how every Chelsea fan is feeling right now.

It feels like the season is dead in the water. However, caretaker manager Frank Lampard needs to remind every player they’re playing for their futures in the next month.

There are some signs that James is getting closer to his best recently, but the injury-prone man definitely has a few more gears to go through.
