'Will be very surprised': Daniel Sturridge predicts what will happen between Chelsea and Liverpool in FA Cup final

In the FA Cup final later today, Daniel Sturridge predicts a low-scoring affair between Chelsea and Liverpool.

Typing on Twitter, Sturridge expected the contest containing two of his former sides to be an extremely close one.

Sturridge predicts the FA Cup final, but will it come true?

Many probably share the view of the current Perth Glory striker.

Each of the three games Chelsea and Liverpool have played out this season have either been drawn or won by the finest of margins.

Thomas Tuchel’s men earned a point at Anfield in late August, despite playing the whole second half with ten men.

They came back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a stunning strike from Mateo Kovacic.

February’s mesmerising Carabao Cup final could only be decided by a penalty shoot-out, one that also went all the way until Kepa Arrizabalaga stepped up to the spot.

Substituted on just before the kicks, Kepa was meant to be the hero in this situation.

Instead, he became the villain for the Blues, failing to save any of Liverpool’s 11 attempts and subsequently missing his own to conclude the occasion.

Tuchel might think twice about making the same tactical tweak this afternoon, permitted the tie gets that far again.

Chelsea and Liverpool need a break

After such a cruelling campaign, both camps will surely want to wrap up the victory in normal time.

Despite defeating Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday evening, Liverpool looked really weary, the consequence of going all the way in every competition they’ve entered.

Klopp also lost Fabinho through a thigh problem at Villa Park, the only recognised defensive midfielder in the squad.

But the Reds boss is not alone in his injury worries.

Kovacic could not continue against Leeds United mid-week after sustaining a horrible tackle from Daniel James.

The Croat had to hobble off, with an icepack later applied to his ankle.

Whilst the signs did not look good ahead of the FA Cup final, Tuchel attempted to remain positive about the player’s availability.

“We will try today, which is pretty surprising news that we can even try it — but Mateo wants to try it,” said the coach yesterday in his pre-match press conference.

Tuchel is also waiting to give the green light for N’Golo Kante, who has missed the last three games, taking an equally optimistic view.

“We will also try today with him. He’s keen to make it.”
