Chelsea secured a top-four finish despite the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday — and some fans have named one player that did well.

It was a very disappointing performance at Villa Park in a must-win game.

Having dominated the possession earlier in the game, it was Bertrand Traore, a former Chelsea player, who scored the opening goal and took the lead for the home side.

Traore was again involved in Villa’s second goal after winning the penalty. Anwar El Ghazi did not waste the opportunity and slotted the ball past Kepa Arrizabalaga — who came on at half-time to replace injured Edouard Mendy.

Ben Chilwell pulled one back for Chelsea, barely, in the 70th minute. Chelsea, however, could not find the equaliser.

Fortunately, it did not matter in the end after Tottenham Hotspur’s incredible comeback win over Leicester City.

Liverpool managed to win and secured the third-place finish, while Leicester finished fifth. Chelsea, fourth.

Thomas Tuchel’s men are going to the Champions League next season.

Despite the overall frustrating display and the underwhelming season finale, these Chelsea fans on Twitter agree that at least one Chelsea player actually performed.

Chilwell was certainly Chelsea’s best performer. You could even argue that he was Chelsea’s best defender as well as attacker in the game.

He made four tackles and one interception and, impressively, was not dribbled past even once throughout the game.

He also won eight of his 13 duels in the game.

At the other end of the pitch, the England international created four chances and had three shots on target, including his goal.
