Norwich City manager Daniel Farke admitted his team’s failure to nullify Blues duo Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic made it very difficult for them to compete against Chelsea in Saturday’s 7-0 defeat.

To describe it as domination from the Blues would be an understatement.

The seven goals aside, the home side even managed to limit Farke’s men to just three shots, with only one being on target.

To be fair, Norwich also had to play with 10 men in the final 25 minutes of the game. Chelsea had a five-goal lead at that point before adding two more goals with a man advantage.

According to Farke, his team’s not being able to execute the plan to nullify two key Chelsea players played a big part in the humiliating defeat.

“It’s an unbelievably tough day. In all areas, we were not good enough for this level,” the Norwich City boss told BBC MOTD.

“We spoke about this before the game. We were nowhere near to what we can play.

“It’s important to always put pressure on Jorginho and Kovacic and also to protect the runs.

“I wish we’d done better in certain situations. We didn’t show enough quality to be competitive.”

Jorginho and Kovacic ran the show for Chelsea

Even some Chelsea fans might be surprised that Jorginho and Kovacic had that much space in Norwich’s half.

The pair pretty much had all the time they needed to dictate the tempo and make plays.

Kovacic eventually made two assists, while Jorginho who featured for 64 minutes created Mason Mount’s opening goal.

When you allowed the likes of Jorginho and Kovacic to make over 50 passes in the final third, you were always going to be in trouble.

It is also worth pointing out that the midfield duo also put a shift in defensively, winning possessions in the opposition half several times in the game.

Well, some Chelsea fans on social media were clearly aware of Kovacic’s incredible performance on Saturday.
