'This guy might be legit': Some Chelsea fans raved about 20-year-old loan star yesterday

Followers of Chelsea loved what they saw from Ethan Ampadu last night after he put on a solid performance for Sheffield United.

The Blades battened down the hatches and ground out a very needed 1-0 against Aston Villa at Brammall Lane.

Chris Wilder’s team even had to play half an hour with ten men, but they survived thanks to some defiant defending.

Ampadu epitomised United’s desire to secure the three points and this did not go unnoticed by Chelsea supporters.

Chelsea’s Welsh warrior has been enjoying a very successful loan spell up in South Yorkshire away from Stamford Bridge.

Despite Sheffield United’s perilous Premier League position, Ampadu has often shown the type of metal that could save the Steel City side from relegation.

It’s no surprise that the 20-year-old featured in all four of the Blades’ league wins this season, including yesterday’s scalp over European hopefuls Villa.

There’s still a mountain to climb in terms of top-flight survival for Wilder and co. with time certainly not in their corner.

If they are relegated, Sheffield United and Chelsea will have an interesting conversation on their hands concerning Ampadu’s future.

United may well want to secure him for another term in the Championship if the option presented itself.

Thomas Tuchel hasn’t yet been asked to comment on Ampadu’s position in his Blues squad, so it’s definitely a situation to keep an eye on.

I think Ampadu is actually the perfect Tuchel player.

Can play in a variety of positions, gives his heart and soul to the team, plus he has a maturity beyond his young years.

Hopefully he makes his way back to South West London after the summer.
