Tony Cascarino thinks Chelsea star Mason Mount could be a perfect fit at Arsenal amid rumours he could be leaving Stamford Bridge.

There’s plenty of speculation in the media right now that suggests Mason Mount, 24, could leave the Blues at the end of the season.

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this week that Manchester United were lining up a move for Mount to try beat rival suitors Arsenal and Liverpool to his signature. Elsewhere, Sky Sports names Tottenham and Newcastle United as two more Premier League sides monitoring Mount’s future.

90min says that Chelsea and Mount will hold more contract talks next week once the 2022/23 season is over. If all parties can’t reach an agreement, he could be sold as the current deal will soon be entering its final year.

When discussing Mount’s future, pundit Cascarino suggest that Chelsea’s attacking midfielder should join Arsenal as his next club.

He believes that the 24-year-old may be an ideal replacement for Gunners star Granit Xhaka, who’s thrived as a box-to-box midfielder at the Emirates Stadium this season.

“I personally think he would be a great replacement for Granit Xhaka at Arsenal, because I love Mount as an attacking midfielder. His goal record tells you that he loves to play from slightly deeper positions, but he always strives to get into the 18-yard box. He’s tenacious with high energy, although he’s not the quickest,” Cascarino wrote for The Times.

“I think Xhaka is a really interesting position for Arsenal to fill unless they believe that Emile Smith Rowe will have a great pre-season and come back from injury and play that position of a goalscoring midfielder. But I think Mount fits perfectly into Xhaka’s role and Arsenal are a good fit for him, as a young and energetic team.”

Of course, Mount could make a real difference in any of the league’s top sides if he rediscovers his best form. Therefore, Chelsea need to make sure that nightmare doesn’t become a reality.

It would be great to see the academy graduate pen a new long-term deal and focus on getting back to his best next season under incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, we are alarmed by the amount of reports breaking this week regarding his future.
