Darren Bent has reacted fairly positively to speculation that Chelsea’s Jorginho will be joining Arsenal today on deadline day.

This transfer story has broken very suddenly in the last 24 hours, with Chelsea now set to lose one of their senior individuals to their London rivals.

The Athletic reports that Arsenal are set to pay £12million to sign Jorginho from Chelsea today.

Journalist Charles Watts adds that the 31-year-old Blues midfielder has been given permission to travel the Emirates Stadium to complete the deal.

Jorginho switch

Pundit Bent, who’s an Arsenal supporter, has reacted on Twitter to the Jorginho transfer saga.

He’s fairly upbeat about the Italy international’s imminent arrival at the Emirates Stadium, but does raise one concern about his mobility.

“I think Jorginho is a clever signing. Premier league experience, has a winners mentality. My only concern maybe is out of possession, mobility wise. But a good bit of business,” Bent wrote on Twitter.

Jorginho’s been an incredible servant for Chelsea, so it’s a sad day to watch him on the brink of joining Arsenal.

It definitely feels like it’s time for a new era in the Blues midfield, which is why the Italian’s exit doesn’t come as a complete shock. After all, his contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in the summer.

However, he’s been a real big leader that will leave a hole in the dressing room.

His mobility and speed is something that Arsenal fans like Bent are rightly concerned about, but he still remains a fantastic technician that can dictate from the base of midfield in possession.
