Gabby Agbonlahor feels like there’s big pressure on Mykhailo Mudryk to do well for Chelsea in the upcoming season.

Mykhailo Mudryk joined the Blues midway through last season for a huge £88.5million (Sky Sports) transfer fee, but had a very slow start to his time at Stamford Bridge.

Hopefully, the 22-year-old winger feels more settled now and is ready to show some of his true quality.

On his day, the youngster is a very exciting wide player with great speed, dribbling and directness.

When assessing Chelsea’s current squad, talkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor highlighted Mudryk as someone that needs to improve this campaign.

“Mudryk, how do we know how he’s going to perform this season? He needs to step it up this season. There’s pressure on him,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

Mudryk, who earns £98,000-a-week (Salary Sport), should be eager to prove his early doubters wrong.

Yes, there’s big expectation on the Ukraine international because of the price tag. It’s worth pointing out he played just 44 first-team games for Shakhtar Donetsk before moving to west London.

Pochettino has already said that he can see “massive potential” in Mudryk, as quoted by the club’s official website.

It’s the sort of comment that should really lift his confidence and mood during this pre-season, where he’ll have a chance to show the head coach what he can do.

All focus should be on nailing down a starting position in time for next month’s Premier League opener at home to Liverpool.
