Rio Ferdinand has said he’s been told by anyone close to Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher that his attitude is brilliant.

Gallagher, 21, is a superb Chelsea youngster that’s thriving out on loan with Crystal Palace this season.

The box-to-box midfielder was part of a 10-man Palace team that were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham on Boxing Day, but he’s enjoying a superb individual campaign at Selhurst Park.

He’s scored six goals and made three assists in 18 Palace appearances so far this season. However, his work rate and desire is a big part in why he’s quickly become a fan favourite while out on loan.

Gallager’s form saw him rewarded with a senior England debut back in November by Gareth Southgate and it’s fully justified based off what he’s doing in the Premier League.

Ferdinand has given an insight into the positive comments he’s heard about the Chelsea loanee:

“Listen, I love this player. You can talk about ability, technique, and you can talk about stats. But when I speak to anyone that knows this kid, his attitude is the overriding factor which will determine where he goes to and how long he’ll be at the top,” Ferdinand said.

Gallagher ready for Chelsea

Gallagher should continue improving and developing for the rest of the 2021/22 season with Palace.

But, he’s at a stage where he’s good enough for Thomas Tuchel’s squad already.

Talksport pundit Darren Ambrose recently urged Palace to go all out for Gallagher’s signature on a permanent basis and reckons £60million would be enough to secure a deal.

However, Chelsea shouldn’t entertain the notion of selling him.

The midfield engine is another excellent product of the Blues academy and can bring a fresh dynamic to the XI next season.
