'I'm not sure': Ally McCoist isn't convinced that £50m player is good enough to sign for Chelsea

Ally McCoist is not convinced Everton forward Richarlison is the player Chelsea need to elevate them to new heights next season.

Chelsea, who now have co-owner Todd Boehly acting as interim sporting director, are being linked with so many potential transfer targets. In particular, it sounds like the Blues are on the search for reinforcements in attack.

It’s been reported Thomas Tuchel’s side are considering making a bid to sign Richarlison this summer. It’s been claimed some senior Chelsea players think the £50million-rated Everton star could be a great addition, too.

McCoist not convinced by Richarlison

TalkSPORT pundit McCoist is an admirer of the Everton man, but suggests he’s not good enough to make a big impact in the Chelsea XI.

Maguire Makes The MOST Overpriced Premier League XI

“I don’t think so,” McCoist responded on talkSPORT when asked if Richarlison can help Chelsea compete with Liverpool and Manchester City.

“I think he’s a good player but I think to take Chelsea back up to the next level of competing with Liverpool and City for the title I’m not sure he’ll get you the goals to be honest with you.”

Richarlison has 48 goals in 173 Premier League appearances, which combines time with both Everton and Watford.

He’s a Brazil international that’s definitely good enough to make a leap up from an Everton side that battled relegation to the wire last season.

The fact he’s a versatile attacker who can play anywhere across the frontline should interest Chelsea. He’s a massive fan favourite at Goodison Park due to his hard work and aggression, too.

However, nobody is really going to know how good he can be until one of the big boys takes a chance on him.
