Jamie Redknapp was not impressed by Kepa Arrizabalaga during Chelsea’s 2-2 home draw against Everton this evening.

Despite leading the game twice, Chelsea had to settle for a single point in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Everton.

Joao Felix, who impressed Pat Nevin with his weekend performance, opened the scoring in a frantic second-half.

Abdoulaye Doucoure equalised from a corner for the Merseyside club. However, the Blues were back out in front when Kai Havertz converted a spot-kick.

Eventually, Ellis Simms scored his first ever Everton goal in the 89th minute to snatch a point for the visitors.

Sky Sports pundit Redknapp believes Kepa should take a big slice of the blame for Everton’s late strike.

22-year-old striker Simms, who dribbled past Kalidou Koulibaly far too easily, tucked in his low finish. Unfortunately, Kepa couldn’t keep the ball out of the net despite making contact.

“The keeper is so poor [for the Simms goal]. He doesn’t make nearly enough saves… The keeper should do better,” Redknapp told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (7:43pm, 18 March).

Kepa has done a fairly solid job since returning as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper in-between the sticks.

Unfortunately, the Spaniard does still have a moment in him where you ask questions.

It certainly wasn’t a straightforward save considering the Everton forward was shooting from a short distance, but would some of the world’s elite keepers save it? For us, yes.

It’s going to be interesting to see whether Graham Potter wants Kepa in his long-term plans.
