John Terry names biggest threat to Chelsea's Premier League title hopes

Chelsea legend John Terry has had his say on the Premier League title race as he explained why Liverpool are the biggest threats to the Blues’ title hopes.

As it stands, Thomas Tuchel‘s men are three points clear of Manchester City in second place and four points ahead of third-placed Liverpool after 12 Premier League games.

It looks very positive for Chelsea, who have the best defence in the league with only four goals conceded so far, but they are likely in for a long, fierce race for the remainder of the season.

Like many, Terry also thinks it will be a three-horse race.

“Yes, I think it is,” the iconic centre-back told beIN SPORTS when asked whether Liverpool and Manchester City are the two teams Chelsea would fear the most.

“Out of the two, I’d have to say Liverpool — [they] just look a threat.

“I think they just have so many goals in them going forward. Defensively, I look at [Virgil] van Dijk, and I’m not sure who gets past him.

“We all have an off day, which he will, but at the same time, they look very solid.

“Just having that threat up front — we had it at Chelsea years ago with [Didier] Drogba, [Arjen] Robben, and those type of players — you just feel like you’re going to outscore other teams.”

Still, Terry predicts Chelsea to finish at the top of the table at the end of the season.

“Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City, yeah” he added.

It is easy to see why Terry sees Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, who has scored more goals than any other team in the league this season (35), as a threat.

They also have reliable duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane who are first and joint-second in the league goalscoring charts with 11 and seven goals, respectively.

Manchester City, on the other hand, are very similar to Chelsea in terms of how they use their advantage in possession to overwhelm oppositions. But unlike Liverpool, these two teams have not had any stand-out goalscorers, at least so far this term.
