‘Outstanding’: Alan Shearer thinks there is so much more to come from 21-year-old on Chelsea’s books

Alan Shearer is tipping Conor Gallagher for a huge future due to the success he’s enjoying out on loan from Chelsea.

Gallagher, 21, seems to have made the best decision of his career so far by joining Crystal Palace this year on a season-long loan.

It seems like every week the Blues-owned central midfielder is delivering top-class performances in a Palace shirt.

The box-to-box midfielder now has four goals and two assists in 10 Premier League appearances this season, scoring in Palace’s victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.

There are several talents shining away from Stamford Bridge out on loan, but he’s arguably the individual putting forward the biggest case to break into Thomas Tuchel’s squad next season.

Shearer has raved about the youngster on Chelsea’s books:

“The Chelsea loanee was brilliant for Palace yet again, scoring a great goal to wrap up the win. It’s been an outstanding season for the playmaker and there’s plenty more to come,” Shearer said.

Gallagher a future Chelsea player

Gallagher is well on the path to the Chelsea first team at this rate, if his Palace form can continue like this.

Blues manager Tuchel has been singing the youngsters praises this month. However, he’s suggesting Palace is the best place for him right now to continue developing his game.

Chelsea fans may need to be patient before watching the academy graduate performing at the Bridge.

Did he deserve England call-up?

Gallagher’s linked up with England’s Under-21s as usual during the internatonal break, but many feel he should’ve been called up to the senior squad for the first time.

He definitely deserves to be in the conversation because he’s one of the most in-form midfielders across the entire Premier League.

Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe has just been bumped up from the Under-21s to the men’s seniors with England. Gallagher must not be far behind from joining Gareth Southgate’s squad, too.
