Pat Nevin names Chelsea player who 'made the difference' in West Ham win

Pat Nevin praised Mason Mount’s strong second-half performance in Chelsea’s dramatic 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.

It was far from a convincing display from Chelsea overall, particularly after their recent poor results at home.

At the end of the day, Thomas Tuchel’s men secured the important three points and restore a five-point gap with fourth-placed Arsenal.

Jorginho’s awful penalty miss and Christian Pulisic’s dramatic winner will grab the headlines, but according to Nevin, Mount played a crucial role in the win.

“When Chelsea do try and get it wide and get to the byline, everyone gets excited,” the former Blues winger told BBC Radio 5 Live during the game.

“Mason Mount has made a big difference this second half.

“Everything that has happened that has been better for Chelsea has involved him.”

Mount created three chances in the game and made a brilliant run with the ball which led to Pulisic’s goal.

It is safe to say that Tuchel made the correct decision to let the England international stay on the pitch while both Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were taken off.
