'Plenty of energy': Paul Merson singles out important Chelsea loanee ahead of his side's game at the weekend
Paul Merson has singled out Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher as an important player ahead of the Boxing Day fixture between Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
Gallagher, 21, is currently enjoying a brilliant season-long loan at Palace. Chelsea decided to loan him out for the third consecutive season in a row, with his levels improving at a rapid rate at Selhurst Park this year.
His Palace side are currently preparing for this weekend’s Premier League fixture away to Tottenham.
Merson has picked out the Blues loanee as someone that can make a big impact on Sunday. He’s predicting a 2-2 draw in the London derby.
“Crystal Palace have plenty of energy in midfield with Gallagher, and they could cause Spurs a fair share of problems. There will be a lot of goals here and I think Palace can get something out of this Premier League game,” Merson said.
Uproar if Chelsea don’t use Gallagher next season
For certain, Gallagher is ready to be involved in the Chelsea first team in the next campaign.
He’s impacting almost every Premier League match he’s playing this season and it won’t be a surprise to see him shine against Tottenham in a couple of days time.
The box-to-box midfielder, who’s recently become a senior England international, keeps getting better.
He’s yet another talent to come through the Chelsea academy, so don’t be surprised to see him aiming to reach the levels of Mason Mount and Reece James in the near future.
Palace supporters should enjoy him while they can because he’s surely destined for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Interestingly, Blues manager Tuchel has already said this season he would’ve loved playing alongside someone like Gallagher.
