Gabby Agbonlahor has ripped into Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella by naming him as one of the biggest flops in the Premier League this season.
There were plenty of eyebrows raised when Chelsea splashed the cash last summer to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton in a deal that could end up costing as much as £62million.
The 24-year-old left-back was coming off the back of a superb year in England with Brighton, but it’s been a very difficult debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.
Therefore, we’re not overly surprised to hear The Sun claim this month that Chelsea could end up selling Cucurella during the upcoming summer transfer window.

TalkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor hasn’t held back with his criticism of Chelsea’s Spanish defender. In particular, he doesn’t rate his technical ability.
“Cucurella, a very poor season. He got brought in for £62million and has been very, very poor. On the ball, technically, not very good,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.

In fairness, it’s hard to defend Cucurella when you reflect on his first 33 Chelsea appearances.
The full-back’s been all over the place in some games and is certainly not looking like a £60million-plus player, but it shouldn’t be all doom and gloom for him quite.
He’s got to be extra motivated to bounce back to his best form next season, whether that’s in Chelsea colours or not.
We agree that he’s not the most technical player in the same bracket as someone like Blues right-back Reece James. However, he showed at Brighton he can benefit from a great engine and aggression in his game.
The pressure has got too much on Cucurella after people piled into every individual mistakes, so the summer is a great time to clear his head.
