Agent says Jorginho will consider leaving Chelsea for Napoli return
Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos said his client will consider returning to Serie A this summer despite his important role at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel.
Last month, Tuchel described the 29-year-old as one of the three crucial player in his Chelsea plans, along with N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
Jorginho started in nine of the 14-game unbeaten run under the new boss, although he missed the last two games due to suspension (v Atletico Madrid) and his recent knee injury (v Sheffield United).
While Tuchel clearly wants him, there are still speculations about the midfielder’s possible summer exit.
His agent Santos has now had his say about the situation.
“There are many rumours about that because he [Jorginho] did so well at Napoli,” Santos told Naples-based Radio Marte (via Daily Mail).
“It’s a special moment for him.
“He is an important player for Chelsea now.
“However, he is an Italy international, and we are thinking about a return to Serie A if he leaves the Blues.
“If Napoli will make an offer, we’ll evaluate it.
“He had a great time in Naples, and he has many friends over there.”
This is not the first time the agent spoke about Jorginho’s desire to return to his native country.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Santos also made a similar statement.
It would have been understandable if the agent made such claims back when his client was struggling for minutes under Frank Lampard, but now seems to be a strange timing to do so.
