While some of Chelsea’s youngsters may have got the headlines, Reece James has been quietly going about his business.

He was named Chelsea’s Academy player of the season last year, and is now on loan at Wigan Athletic.

Although he played limited first team football before this season, he’s now Wigan’s starting right-back.

James has played 15 times for Wigan so far this season, and is relishing life under Paul Cook.

And he’s showing signs of his development, as on Sunday against Leeds, he scored his first-ever senior goal:

James is still only 18-years-old, and is showing signs he could have what it takes to succeed at Chelsea.

And with Cesar Azpilicueta struggling for form this season, James may have a shot at playing when he returns next season.
