Chelsea’s Charlie Webster has reportedly been attracting interest from teams in Europe, but the young prospect is set to stay put at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Evening Standard, Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven have shown ‘significant interest’ in signing Webster.

It is understood that Chelsea are ‘confident’ the 18-year-old talent will renew his contract in west London, though.

It sounds like the central midfielder wants to stay with the Blues because he is reportedly set to extend a deal that currently expires in the summer.

Also, the report mentions Malik Mothersille is another Chelsea academy star that’s set to sign a new contract.

Webster, who’s still waiting to make his first-team debut, is a key player at youth level.

The deep-lying midfielder has been integral for Chelsea’s Under-21s side, who currently sit top of the Premier League 2 division table.

There’s been a massive turnaround for the Blues youth team this season, winning five of their last six league games to fire themselves to the top of the table.

Webster joined the Chelsea academy as an Under-10 player, so his rise through the youth set up has been quite remarkable.

Hopefully, the fact he’s in line for a contract extension shows there’s a route into Graham Potter’s first team.

Webster, who’s been around first-team training at Chelsea, needs to keep impressing at youth level.

Potter has shown a willingness to integrate academy players into his squad, with 18-year-old Lewis Hall the breakout star now getting solid minutes in the senior team.
