'I know': Reporter insists 28-year-old is very 'aware' that Tuchel wants to sign him for Chelsea

Dean Jones claimed on the Terrace YouTube channel that Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku is conscious of Thomas Tuchel’s admiration towards him.

Inter Milan are currently fending off the Blues’ interest for their leading frontman.

A bid of €100m (£85m) from Stamford Bridge for the Belgian has already been turned down, according to Sky Sports Italia.

This probably won’t be the last siege Chelsea attempt before the window closes later this month.

Persuading the 28-year-old to leave his Italian settlement won’t be straightforward.

He is apparently very content with the Italian champions, having just fired them to their first league title for a decade.

Tuchel takes a shining to Lukaku

Reuniting with Chelsea will always have an Asterix above, due to the nature of his departure in 2014.

Not to mention his unceremonious exit from Manchester United a few years later; the Premier League has been tainted for the no.9.

However, Chelsea will lean on all their financial power and business accruement to try lure Lukaku back to South West London.

Using Tuchel as a bargaining tool might also work in their favour.

“Thomas Tuchel, this is important, is really, really keen on Romelu Lukaku,” explained Jones.

“I know that Lukaku has been made aware of that and Lukaku is in no doubt that if he joins Chelsea, it’s because everybody wants him to be there.”

Feeling loved and admired is something Lukaku missed out on during his short stint at Chelsea.

His relationship with Jose Mourinho fell sour quite quickly after he joined Everton on loan.

But Tuchel’s reported fondness of the attacker might just make him reconsider returning to his former stomping ground.
