Malo Gusto apparently only had eyes for Chelsea ahead of his move from Lyon.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the defender didn’t want anyone else other than the South West London side after discovering the interest from Stamford Bridge.
Gusto got eventually got his wish.
Chelsea sealed the teenager’s signature yesterday in a deal worth £26m, one that includes loaning him back to Lyon for the rest of the term.
The 19-year-old will link up with Graham Potter’s squad in the summer instead.
His arrival will certainly be hotly anticipated by fans and the board, who view the France Under-21 international as the long-term understudy to Reece James.
James’ injury worries forced Todd Boehly and his crew to locate a suitable standby for the academy graduate.
They’ve certainly landed upon a gem in Gusto, a player highly-regarded across the continent.

It could be a match made in heaven, especially as the right-back seemingly desired to become a Blue instead of joining forces with another team.
“Another English club tried to hijack the move of Malo Gusto to Chelsea. They tried to contact Lyon,” revealed Romano.
“We know the negotiation was nearly ten days when Chelsea opened talks for Malo Gusto to official bids. Another English club tried, but no way.
“The player wanted Chelsea, Chelsea wanted the player.”
Sounds like everybody involved with the transaction is happy.
Chelsea got their man; Gusto got his transfer.
Now, we just have to wait and see if the dream agreement is all it’s made out to be.
